Recently, a friend saw my paintball gun sitting in the corner and asked me how I got into paintball. This lead me to the idea of writing a guide for how to play paintball for beginners. Hopefully this short guide can help you out a little and get you excited about the joys of being able to shoot your friends.

The first thing you need to know is that starting off, you don't need expensive, fancy equipment. I started off with a cheap gun from wal mart and a borrowed mask. Looking back, I wish I would have invested a tiny bit more in the gun because the plastic wal mart guns are complete garbage. Check out some stores online and you can probably find a good deal on something. I recommend any of Tipmann's products such as the Tipmann 98 paintball gun for beginners. They make solid guns for an excellent price.

I can't stress enough how important safety equipment is in this sport. A mask that covers your entire face and ears is an absolute must. A paintball can easily harm you vision or impair your hearing . Look for a mask that has anti fogging on the goggle portion. It's almost impossible to play without it. Check the internet for great deals.

Next, find a few friends that might want to play or if you have to head to the nearest paintball course by yourself. This option may be great because they offer paintball gun and paintball gear rentals and put you in with a larger group. The only downside to this is that many times these places are full of more experienced players with their own equipment which can be pretty intimidating.

Each paintball course that I've been to has had basically the same rules with minor variations. These include things like minimum distance you can shoot someone (normally about 10 yards), rules for people in bunkers (normally if you get close enough to knock on the wall, everyone inside is tagged) and other rules that insure safety and fairness for everyone playing. Most course provide referees to settle disputes and enforce the rules.

One thing a lot of paintball beginner's don't realize is how much strategy is involved in the game. Real paintball teams put a lot of time planning thing's out. As someone to to paintball, try to pay attention to what the more experienced players on the team are doing and saying. There are also a lot of resources online that will offer tips for what to do out in the field. Paintball is a game where you never stop learning, so research pays off.

Paintball can be a great experience and just by reading this short how to you're already on the road to being a great asset to your team. Hopefully this how to guide to paintball for beginners helped you out. See you on the field.
